We learn body parts as a warm up simon says game. I read the book to the children and we talk about what it means. The children have a copy of the book to colour, and draw their own monster. To support learning I send a sheet home for the children to use with their parents.

Children count/are counted to and change position when ten is reached; from lying down; to jogging on the spot; to sitting quietly. The children then sing/are sung a finger counting song that can be adapted to count any new piece of vocab.

Children work with professions cognates, eg soy recepcionista en un hotel, creating memory cards they can use to play matching pairs games with friends/ test each other with. Learners earn the right to colour in a province of Spain for their team. Rewards can be given for the most coloured map each session or the first to complete the map, rather like marbles in the jar.

Present tense of regular, reflexive, irregular and stem changing verbs with some opportunities for practice.

A full set of activities in English and Spanish. Sing 'Where is the farmer?' as children pass folded pictures round until the music stops. Play find the pair game in large and small groups. Sing 'What noise do little pigs make?' Make pig faces; Milk a latex glove cow; Match chicks to eggs in capital and lower case letter matching.

I teach the body parts with a game of simon says. The learners match body parts to words on a sheet, then after a quick revision of numbers 1-5 learners comment on the monsters. Then they choose one or more monsters to draw.

Learners memorise the basics of letter writing, match character adjectives to Spanish definitions, study elements of describing someone else and their day, then move to describing themself and their day as a written assessment.

First assign each phrase to the client or receptionist, create a dialogue with your partner, then perform it for peers to note the details.

Questions about name, address, origen, telephone number, and new identities to practice the questions with.

This gives learners the chance to write a letter at an early stage of their learning, explaining where a friend will be able to find different items in a department store.
